[Closed] Support for Nvidia RTX 5050 GPU

Problem/Justification
This feature is needed to address a current limitation that affects usability, compatibility, or performance for TrueNAS users. Without it, users may face avoidable constraints, reduced efficiency, or gaps in functionality that impact day‑to‑day operations. Introducing this improvement ensures the platform continues to evolve with user needs, supports modern workflows, and maintains TrueNAS’s reliability and competitiveness.

Impact
Enabling this feature would benefit all TrueNAS users by improving hardware compatibility, expanding performance options, and ensuring smoother adoption of newer systems. Users gain more flexibility in choosing components, better long‑term support, and potentially higher efficiency depending on the feature’s purpose. The main disadvantage is that adding support may require development effort, testing time, and possible short‑term instability while the feature matures.User

Story
A TrueNAS user wants to manage GPU support more easily, especially after system upgrades that remove previously installed Nvidia drivers. With this feature, the user can open the TrueNAS interface and select from a curated list of supported Nvidia driver versions—ranging from the newest releases to older, stable drivers needed for legacy GPUs. After choosing the appropriate driver, TrueNAS automatically installs it without requiring manual command‑line steps. This streamlined workflow allows the user to maintain GPU functionality across updates, avoid downtime, and ensure their system continues to recognize and use their Nvidia hardware correctly.

What card revision are you on? Link to NVIDIA github shows supported 5050 models.

im on GoldEye 25.10.1 is use Drivers 570.172.08 from the TrueNas release docs and if you check the Nvidia Card support for the Driver version is does not state the 5050 Cards

its looks like you need Driver v580.126.09 Link to Nvidia Driver page: Driver Details | NVIDIA

I think you are just stuck waiting to see what version is in TrueNAS 26 Release later in the year. You can try looking at the 26 nightly and see what that is reporting.

yea will do, there is a working around at the moment where you just install them manually by the terminal, but will wait to see what the release notes state once they are release hope there will be native support persistent though upgrades

Either two people asked separately, or that’s you on Reddit - but TN26 will bring the NVIDIA 590 driver that will have support for this card and the other missing ones from the Blackwell line like the RTX PRO 2000.

As highlighted by updates, which are coming, but as our strategy for NVIDIA card support has been shared on the forums previously, requests for specific drivers will be closed.
