[Duplicate] Add Wifi support for hardware and device installs

Problem/Justification
At this stage TrueNas Scale does not support Wifi hardware and/or Wifi card driver installation.

Impact
Provides the ability to house the TrueNAS box away from main computers and/or routers to save space and not require cable connection with long cables.

User Story
As per impact, this would allow for the TrueNAS box to be placed anywhere within the Wifi network without having to have it in the same location as other computers and also not need a long cable from the router to the NAS if you want it placed elsewhere.

I am not sure if this would present security issues, but it would be very useful indeed.

There already is a feature request for WiFi support:

As far as I can remember it was already requested once and denied, but good luck

The last one (linked by @bacon) concluded with “we’ll think about it, but no promises.”

Closing this as a duplicate of existing one which is tagged as “Under Consideration” with the quote:

WiFi in general is one of those things we’re aware of maybe making sense to add at some point. Now that we’re on Linux and it actually has decent WiFi support that is

But no particular ETA here, maybe it happens down the road as part of a general networking overhaul / update, maybe not. But with Wifi7 and eventually 8 getting better/faster, there’s going to be more call for it for the SOHO market as well.
