Every Drive in my pool has degraded!

…at that point it could be the motherboard or the cpu :frowning:

If the new ram failed, then try 68Mb of the new ram and do a memtest. if that test also fails then you likely need a new motherboard. They do fail.

So I swapped to a different slot on the motherboard and used just one stick, but the test still failed. I am running the last stick now, but assuming that, as you have said, the motherboard has failed.

I am thinking it would probably make sense to buy a new motherboard & CPU. Or do we think that I am ok just to replace the motherboard?

I would also appreciate any suggestions on what to buy. I don’t want to spend crazy money, as I am actually moving to Canada in about 2 weeks and will be using the server less while I am away; however, I likely will need to access some of the data on it while abroad, so I want it to be reliable and future-proofed.

Thanks

Are you still using 32gb size module?
Have you other smaller stick to test the system with, available at home?
I’m still of the idea is worth to ensure you are just not having problem due to the memory size

I mean, if you really want something else to try that is free before replacement of motherboard and/or cpu; you can try manually increasing voltage to the ram along with decreasing speed and subtimings.

I mean, it’d still be very suspect, even if it passes memtest I’d give it the stink eye.

Edit: personally I’d replace motherboard first & cpu send if I was keeping everything in same platform. Otherwise I’d use it as an excuse to upgrade both. Or better yet, upgrade both & get something that works with ecc ram!
