Hangs on startup - but seems okay other than I can't do anything from console

Hi all,

strange problem I’ve just found after installing a KVM. The system is fine and I can access it fine from a web browser in headless mode.

But when I look at the output from the machine on my KVM or even using a monitor plugged directly in, I can see it’s hung at this stage in the boot.

It used to be fine, not sure what could have caused this.

And everything else seems fine - no warnings in the gui.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

gui working while the local console looks stuck is usually getty or fb after the kvm got plugged in for me.

from ssh or the web shell:
-systemctl status getty@tty1 getty@tty2
-journalctl -b -u getty@tty1 --no-pager | tail -40
-Ctrl+Alt+F2 then F3 on the kvm and see if another tty answers
-midclt call system.general.config

if tty2/3 work, just leave the kvm on that one. if all ttys blank, drm with that kvm edid can do it. boot once with nomodeset or swap cable/port to test.

thanks - but didn’t seem to make a difference.

i have 2 graphics cards in the system… going to remove one of them as I think it’s possibly getting confused at some point.

Many thanks,

Mike
