Hey all,
Our Wikipedia page is looking a little…outdated. It’s a solid resource for newcomers and enthusiasts, but it could use a refresh to reflect the latest innovations, features, and milestones. And who better to help than the people who actually know their way around TrueNAS?
We’d love for you to give the current TrueNAS Wikipedia page (TrueNAS - Wikipedia) a once-over and drop some constructive feedback on its Talk page. Whether it’s updating info, adding solid citations, or pointing out gaps that need some love, your input can help make it a more accurate, well-rounded resource (and spare someone from relying on decade-old forum posts for answers).
Now, you might be wondering: Why aren’t we just fixing it ourselves? Well, Wikipedia discourages companies from editing their own pages due to its conflict of interest (COI) guidelines. Direct edits from TrueNAS could be seen as biased or promotional, undermining the encyclopedia’s goal of neutrality. So, instead, we’re turning to the real experts-you.
A few Wikipedia survival tips:
- Stay Neutral: Just the facts. Keep suggestions factual and unbiased.
- Use Reliable Sources: Think third-party articles, industry reviews, or other independent sources. Linking to our own website? Big nope. Wikipedia frowns on self-promotion.
- Talk It Out: Suggest edits and discuss them on the Talk page before making changes directly. It keeps things collaborative and Wikipedia-approved. Avoid editing the main page directly if you’re unsure!
This is a great chance to flex that TrueNAS knowledge and ensure we’re properly represented. Never edited Wikipedia before? No worries. Check out their Five Pillars (Wikipedia:Five pillars - Wikipedia) for a quick crash course.
Interested? Drop a comment or DM me. Let’s make sure TrueNAS is getting the Wikipedia entry it deserves.
