I want to share files from my truenas SCALE online to others

I’ve been using truenas for 2 years.
I need to share files with people online, like a google drive or onedrive.

I’ve try the nextcloud videos in youtube but couldn’t install it.

My actual internet connection doesn’t have a private IP adress. Could it be the problem?

Do I need to do something else before installing NEXTCLOUD?

Is there any other free way to do this?

Thank’s

Nextcloud is a good tool for that.

TrueNAS is adding a web sharing feature in 2026….. not that I suggest waiting.

I share a dataset on my NAS using webdav, there is a webdav app available with TrueNAS scale. To make the share available over the internet, I’ve registered my domain name with cloud flare and am using a cloud flare tunnel to route to my webdav share. I find that this works quite well for me as I’m a macOS user as is the other members of my family that use this share. With macOS, the webdav share is easily mounted via the finder. I have had some problems though trying to get it working with windows 11. Windows 11 complains about the TLS connection and refuses to make the connection. I’m not sure why that is as my TLS certificate is signed by lets encrypt. With macOS though, the webdav access while out and about is flawless.
