Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a Dell R720 from eBay and decided to install TrueNAS on it. After some research, I learned that I needed to flash the H710 RAID controller to IT mode, which I successfully completed. I also flashed the BIOS bootloader for the H710 without any issues. However, I’m now encountering problems during the TrueNAS installation process.
Here’s a summary of what I’ve done so far:
-
Flashed the latest version of TrueNAS to a USB flash drive.
-
Plugged the flash drive into the front USB port of the R720.
-
Installed a PNY 240GB SSD into one of the drive slots.
-
Powered on the R720.
-
Accessed the Boot Manager, selected BIOS Boot, and chose the front USB as the boot device.
At this point, I can see the SSD listed as a boot option, which suggests that the H710 was successfully flashed to IT mode.
After selecting the bootable USB, the following screen appears:
If I wait long enough, the system eventually boots into the TrueNAS installer. However, during the installation process, I encounter repeated I/O errors. The installation never completes successfully.
Does anyone know what could be causing these I/O errors? I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions to resolve this issue.
Thank you in advance!
