Kernel: mpt3sas_cm0 warning with SAS9300-8i

Hi, yesterday I upgraded my HBA to SAS3008-8i, and TrueNAS Scale 24.04.2 reported the following warning every one minute:

Aug 8 17:42:46 domain kernel: mpt3sas_cm0: log_info(0x31200205): originator(PL), code(0x20), sub_code(0x0205)

The error code means

0x0205 Information “%s Cache Flush aborted by user” Logged when the user aborts the Cache Flush operation

I have searched this forum and found the same error code in this topic. It says updating the firmware solved the issue.
Based on this info, I updated the firmware found in TrueNAS forum. However, the warning remains.

Here is my system info.

What I have tried so far:

  • Changed this HBA with another HBA with the same controller
  • Changed PCI-E slot
  • Used different HDD enclosure
  • Updated the firmware
  • Reinstall TrueNAS Scale 24.04

I will try

  • Try TrueNAS Core 13.0-U6.2
  • Update MB BIOS
  • Replace MB with spare MB

I would greatly appreciate any help!

I just remembered that the server has another SAS HBA installed.
I will take it out from the system if the warning stops.

I think I solved the issue… finally.

There is another HBA card with a different controller, SAS3416, which is mentioned in the previous comment. sas3flash did not list this HBA, so I did not realize there is an additional HBA card. This card had a very old firmware, so I had to update the firmware.
For this controller, I must have used storcli instead of sas3flash.
After flashing the latest firmware, the warning disappeared.
