Moving to a bigger server case

I have purchased a new server case with more drive bays. During the holday I plan to move the internal hardware from the smaller case to the bigger case and I am a little worried I might break the storage configuration (VDEVs and Pools).

When connecting the drives in the new bigger case, do I need to connect each drive to the exact same port on motherboard or HBA that they were connected to when installed in the old smaller case?

If that is the case I have to document and mark all ports, cables and drives before moving.

I am of course hoping that the VDEVs and Pools uses the drives´ unique ids so that as long as the drive is connected to a compatible port (SATA or SAS) on any card it can be located and placed in the correct memebership of a VDEV and Pool when starting up in the new case.

ZFS doesn’t care - you should be able to connect them in any order at all as long as you aren’t doing anything that isn’t recommended & prevents zfs from getting full access to the drives (HBA in IR instead of IT, some other form of hardware raid, etc.)

Thanks for quick reploy.

All my VDEVs are mirrored drives and I am not using any harware raid.

Now I am confident I can start unplugging all drives.
