Moving to new case

I’m going to be moving my home NAS from an old used tower to a proper NAS case, so i have slots to add additional HDDs. I’m not changing any of the internal components at this time, just pulling it all out of the old case and moving it to the new one.

My NAS currently has 3 pools - a mirrored boot pool on two SATA SSDs, an Apps pool on a single M.2 SSD, and a RaidZ2 data pool with 4 SATA HDDs. When i move things into the new case, do i need to reconnect the same drives to the same SATA ports on the motherboard as before? Or does that not matter?

Thanks!

No. ZFS doesnt care.

okay. do the boot pool ssd’s still need to be in the same two sata ports? or could the BIOS still find them and boot even if they were in ports that used to have the hdd’s for the data pool?

It should not be a problem. Maybe you will have to reselect the bootdisc.
