Nextcloud and apple CardDAV

Hallo,
i have an actual system with ElectricEel-24.10.1 and Nextcloud App Version: 30.0.5, Version: 1.5.15 running. Access via the web UI works, no errors.
I installed calendar and contacts in Nextcloud → works fine
Then I tried to link the calendar to my Mac OS X sequoia → works
I am not really sure how I installed it, but I think it was the advanced mode. I put in my username, password, server name (next.lang-w.de) and the copied path from the calendar app (sharing link for external applications: https://next.lang-w.de:30027/remote.php/dav/calendars/Peter/familie/)
With this setting it works fine.

But now, if I want to sync my contacts with Mac OS X I always get an error:
Passwort can’t be checked

how can I check if the client is trying to connect? Is there a Logfile of nextcloud?

I use the truenas certificate, which works fine. With an older instance of nextcloud on an older truenas version I have no problems. But I can’t see the settings I made because Mac OS X doesn’t show them.

Is the certificate self signed? Because the apps are FUBAR when you don’t have a real certificate from Letsencrypt for example.

Back in the old days I used to run a Baikal server on a Raspeberry Pi 1 as CalDAV server. Plain HTTP on my internal network. Worked great with Apple’s calendar app.

Then Apple decided to “improve” the apps’ (both calendar and contact) connection setup with I think it was 10.13 (the last supported version of my old iMac).

From then on I couldn’t get things to work anymore with HTTP or self signed HTTPS. Luckily I switch to a dedicated webserver with Nextcloud and a Letsencrypt certificate soon afterwards.

But if you really want to give it a few more tries: What you also need to do for self signed is adding the certificate to the keychain of the Mac. Because that is where the apps get their information from which certificates to trust.

yes, the certificate is from letsencrypt. When i log in via Browser it is Shown as valid.
