No off topic catagory?

In the old forum there was an off topic section for members to post questions or discussions that weren’t directly related to TrueNAS. I don’t see one here. Is the an appropriate place to post an off topic question or is that something that the TrueNAS team wants to stay away from?

The old forum was full of so many knowledgeable people I miss having a place to bounce ideas off people, especially those in the tech industry.

I’ve posted general computer & ZFS related questions and info in the “General Discussion” section.

My ever popular post about small PC with ECC memory has 3.7K views…

That’s the purpose of the General Discussion section (in fact, that’s why I requested it).

Do not ask for permission, beg for forgiveness

But seriously, the General section sounds like the perfect place. I do think a seperate “Off-Topic” section would be better suited as it would seperate TrueNAS General topics from not related topics, but for the lack of it, use General.

Now I’m curious what you are going to post.

Indeed

The thing that threw me off was the General Discussion description on the main page.

General Topics and Discussion around the TrueNAS family of products. Please use tags for marking specific topics.

Ok I’ll fire off my question in another topic. I’m in the market for a new laptop and need some specific guidance.

The General Discussion category is used for that.

I believe I have sufficiently answered your question. My post has “solved” your issue.

What does that button do with the checkmark in the box? :eyes:

“General Discussion,” not “TrueNAS General.”

Exactly. I agree with this.

If you agree with me agreeing with @dan, then maybe that “solves” your issue?

It was muted so I didn’t see it. Of course that means I posted in the wrong section.

I hate this new forum…
