Hi,
I bought a “10Gtek 10Gb PCI-E NIC Netzwerkkarte für Intel X520-DA2” for my truenas build to upgade the network. Unfortunately, I can’t get it to work.
Komponents I use:
10Gtek 10Gb PCI-E NIC Netzwerkkarte für Intel X520-DA2
10Gtek SFP+ DAC Twinax Kabel 2-Meter(6.5ft), 10G SFP+ to SFP+ Direct Attach Copper Passive Cable für Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU2M, Ubiquiti UniFi, TP-Link, Netgear, D-Link, Zyxel, Mikrotik and More
Unifi USW-24-G2
The two interfaces are displayed in truenas but not up:
Contact 10Gtek to make sure the components you bought are compatible. I don’t know if their NIC requires ‘Intel’ transceivers nor if the DAC you bought will work with it.
DACs are okay for same brand or brands that don’t require specific SFP+ modules.
You may be able to watch the TrueNAS console and watch for something like
‘SFP unsupported’ in the screen. That would tell you the NIC doesn’t like the transceiver aka DAC.
Usual recommendation is getting SFP+ transceivers coded to the device they are used in and the correct fiber and connectors types. MMF (multi mode fiber) or SMF (single mode fiber) and the connectors that match the transceivers, I would think LC since you mentioned 10Gbps and Intel X520.
I’ve got several of them in Supermicro servers running TrueNAS Scale and Proxmox. They are connected to Mikrotik switches via Mikrotik branded DAC cables.
