I would try to bring them back online (perhaps even switch ports/cables?).
I have a difficulty in believing that 2 drives fail 100% suddenly unless something catastrophic happened to them physically.
And also add another drive in the case if you have space and click replace drive (better to restore from a failing drive to a new drive than from scratch). Fingers crossed…
P.S. add your system to your profile so we know what hardware/software you are using as requested by the forum rules.
Both drives failed at seprate times.
We have tried putting in a new drive but it does not detect the drive
OS Version:TrueNAS-SCALE-24.04.2.5
Product:StoreEasy 1650 Storage
Model:Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2609 v3 @ 1.90GHz
Memory:16 GiB
When the first drive failed (really broken?) you lost the Z1 parity.
A reboot didn’t bring some disk back online?
It does not detect the new drive? In that case the failure is somewhere else I am afraid (mobo, backplane, power, cable).
have you tried the CLI commands to see what is online/available?
sudo zpool status
and any smartdata on the disks with sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdX (X = drive)
zpool clear <poolname> if you think the disks are okay and spinning.
The storage controller will need to be checked to see if it is hardware RAID.
