you used to be able to do this directly from the webgui in core/enterprise…but i cannot find this in scale anywhere…is it possible?
so set the new password and hit save…it did it’s thing and then i tried the new password and it still rejected it…i even used the browser in private mode.
Username is case sensitive in Supermicro BMC - are you logging in with ADMIN
in allcaps?
tried it…no dice. any other ways to reset the ipmi password if the webgui is not working?
You can use ipmicfg. ServeTheHome made a guide about it:
Working link to ipmicfg:
From a web or SSH shell, elevate yourself to root and run ipmitool user list
which will give you the ID listing. Find the ID for ADMIN, and then use ipmitool user set password ID plaintextpassword
tried ipmitool user set password 3 plaintextpass and i get in return no matches found plaintextpass
got it.
ipmitool user set password 3
press enter
enter new password at prompt
this mini is not a supermicro but an asrock rack mobo…interesting
