Running Nextcloud on TrueNAS Core - upgrading to Scale

Been running CORE since 2017 (freenas days). Currently on 13.U6.4. One of the drives in the 8 x 8TB WD Red pool started throwing up errors. I picked up 10 new drives around BF 2024 and need to build a system. Trying to map out the hardware for a fairly low powered (at idle) set up. I’m running Plex, UniFi, Nextcloud and Tailscale. I would prefer to utilize the current HBA (8 SATA ports) + a couple of onboard SATA and get all 10 drives going in a Z2 config. Any recommendations for hardware? I’d like to stay sub $500 if possible, repurpose some of the existing drives. BTW, I’m running jails off of an SSD and have another SSD as a cache drive. Aside from picking decent hardware that would give me best bang for buck at idle, I’m especially concerned about migrating my Nextcloud set up. From what I’ve heard taking Nextcloud CORE to SCALE can be a challenge.

Again my current set up:

Supermicro X8SIL-F with a x3470 Xeon. 32GB ECC RAM

I use it for general file storage with SMB shares going out to multiple computers on the network, as well as for Time Machine backups from several macs that I have on the network. I also have the following deployed.

JAILS (running on an SSD for faster IO)

UniFi
Plex (no transcoding)
Nextcloud
Tailscale

8x8TB WD Reds in RAID-Z2 config, which store all of my data.
120GB ZIL Write Cache

Any tips would be tremendously helpful.

Are you using sync writes? Do you need the SLOG? Are you reusing any other hardware from your current build, except the drives? What needs to be in the new system? CPU and motherboard or are you looking for a complete server?

General location helps too for hardware and pricing suggestions. USA, Africa, etc.

No SLOG. No sync writes. I only want to reuse the HBA…unless I find a motherboard that has more than 12 SATA. (10x HDD 2x SSD) I’m in US
