Scale 25 not installing

Hello, I am setting up a newer machine with Scale (25.04) and I will be moving my data over from Core (older system) to Scale (newer - 2nd PC). For what ever reason, when I try to boot up Scale on the 2nd machine, all I get are “USB DESCRIPTOR…” errors.

It will read the DVD/ISO and eventually boot up to first screen where you choose to 1-4 (install. reboot…). However, I cannot do anything as the keyboard (on a USB port) is not working. I have tried different ports/ keyboards/ bios changes…nothing works. Without a keyboard, I cannot move forward. This is on an older motherboard but the hardware exceeds the requirements.

(BTW, Core boots just fine, installs, and runs on the 2nd machine)

Any ideas? suggestions? Thoughts?

Thanks!!

Hardware list please.

Are you running some USB disks?

No USB disks. It’s an older Desktop that I am setting up as a movie server (obviously not mission critical)
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5
AMD FX-6300
16 GB DDR3 (2x 8GB)
Toshiba 120 GB boot SSD
2x Seagate Iron Wolf 4 TB drives (mirrored)

Thank you for responding.

OK, so I found out a couple solutions.

1st: I plugged the keyboard and mouse into the USB 3.0 ports and Scale saw it. For what ever reason scale could not see the USB 2.0 ports.

2nd: I could install Core and then upgrade to Scale 24 and eventually to Scale 25.

I ran into another issue later that I could not see one of the SATA drives. Turns out I had a bios setting telling that SATA port it was something else.

So, now my “cheap” desktop is now running Scale 25 and quite happy. I did buy some more RAM and boosted the memory to 32 GB.

All and all, up and happy.
