So when and why did the WebUI ability to add multiple Spare VDEV’s get changed to only 1 drive?
Seems like this changed in 25.10 - let me look into the latter part of your question as to “why” ![]()
Thanks,
Just finished checking on my test boxes today and found it was working as expected with multiple spare drives in pools back in 24.10. Feels like a poor move to restrict spares to 1 per pool via the WebUI, when they want to try and make sensible configurations not have us all going to CLI.
Someone must have had a reason for it, so would be interesting to know why and if TPB can be convinced to put it back to allowing multiple spares via the WebUI.
If this changed in the Enterprise version as well, I suppose that there will be customers asking this “why”…
Enterprise users are not using 25.10 yet.
I reported this via Jira a few days ago, based on another thread:
We’ve added it to https://www.truenas.com/docs/scale/25.10/gettingstarted/versionnotes/#known-issues and the issue is being investigated.
@DjP-iX - Thank you.
This is exciting. My first real TrueNAS bug was accepted as a bug! (Even though I never experienced it. Nor was I the one who found it.)
My other claim to fame is Solaris 11’s static route naming. I wanted a comment on static routes because the place I worked had dozens per server. (Each server likely sat on at least 3 networks, the prod one was the default. Which meant all the management traffic had to be static routed to the management port for security purposes.)
The Sun engineer went a bit over-board on my request, and actually named the static routes. That means you could list the routes, and if one had to be removed, you could do it by route name. Not just IP, DNS name or sub-net.
Well that’s good news it’s already logged as a bug. Thanks for pointing me in it’s direction.
I updated to 25.10.0.1 this morning and confirmed it is present in that version too for anyone reading along.
Cheers,
AJC
