Suggestions for 10G SFP+ card?

Any thoughts on this card by Delock? Chipset is supposed to be Intel 82599EN and the card can be easily found new for less the 100 Euros including the manufacturer’s 850nm transceiver at German hardware online retailers.

This is an X520 by its other name, and way too expensive for old hardware.

I seem to recall that the 82599 NIC or whatever it’s called consumes less power than the 520s, ie it is an updated chipset, designed for a price point below the 700 series of the same era.

I’ve had consistently solid results running Chelsio cards with TrueNAS. The T520 in particular has been in my setups for close to 8 years about now, across different builds, and it’s been rock steady the whole time. No random issues, no driver headaches, just reliable performance year after year.

IIIRC, my miniXL anno 2016 or whatever that was also came with a ixsystems branded chelsio 520. The motherboard was felled by the avr54 c2000 bug but the card is still working great in its replacement.

Checking prices at the usual suspects in Germany for used hardware the card by Delock is not so expensive after all considering the hardware is new and comes with a full warranty. So I guess I’ll take this one.

we are using HP NC560SFP+

Fake are fake, not OEM, but fake one’s made usually in China, they look legit, but are missing things, so they are “fake” in that they are just thrown together with what ever 10Gb chip in it. Sometimes they work, other times they do not.

Can you be more specific about “other times”? Do they not work at all, or are they just missing a particular feature? Are you speaking from personal experience, or did you read about it somewhere?

One example, could be more the Intel i*** cards

Other cards like LSI

Intel I-350
