TrueNAS CORE - Upgrade to 13.3 / Security Update Notifications

Hi everybody,

we’re using TrueNAS CORE with TrueNAS-13.0-U6.8.
Update shows: “No updates available.”

At TrueNAS Documentation Hub is stated:
“If any security or data integrity issues do arise in 13,3-U1.2, we will notify the Community of these.”

My Questions:

  1. Should we (manually) upgrade to 13.3 U1.2 to be in the latest version?
  2. How will the notification for security updates be done? Is there an option to receive an email about it?

Thx for help.

The 13.3 train is completely dead. The only reason iX ever provided it was for the sake of jails, but they actively discouraged anyone from using it, deliberately made it a PITA to migrate to it, and then acted surprised when few users did. The 13.0 train is terminal, but supposedly iX will still provide security updates if needed.

If you want to stay on a FreeBSD-based NAS OS, it’s long since time you migrate to another product, because FreeBSD-based TrueNAS is dead. If you want to stay with TrueNAS, you need to be planning to move to SCALE/CE sooner rather than later.

I reacted to @dan ‘s post with a :backhand_index_pointing_up: but that may not amount to much so, …posting to say the same because, again, each “like“ that post gets, is another user saying that they agree.

And I would like to add that one storage box/PC, is storage. A 2nd, 3rd, etc storage, I guess then that is backup because, is elsewhere too.
