Truenas Electric Eel and Nextcloud

I have Truenas Electric Eel installed and running with Plex for a while now.
Also trying to install Nextcloud on it to eventually get it running and accessable from the outside so I can get rid of Google Drive. But just getting Nextcloud installed and running is just a pain in the *rse…

There is not a tutorial which I can find that is just plain and simpel on installing it on Eel and just get it running.
All based on Scale and all different information.

Anyone who has the setup running on the above and or knows how to get this running? I´m about to give up

In the past I had it running on Proxmox and that was not as difficult as this.
I´m just a novice on these kind of things but not that I normally can find someting on the internet that works for me. You should say that just Nextcloud on Electric Eel wouldn´t be that difficult…

Again tried to install Nextcloud with the required datasets. When I try to access the web UI I get site can not be reached, IP 192.168.1.*** has refused connection. I am probably doing something wrong with ACL or user or something but can’t find the issue

I spent the last 2 days actually getting nextcloud:fpm container installed,

For outside access for most my services I actually use nordvpns meshnet feature, which came in quite handy

But for nextcloud I created 2 user accounts for some friends, and using the cloudflared container I had recently setup, used cloudflares zero trust service to grant them access

The way this works is they go to - mycloudflarename.cloudflareaccess.com

This brings them to a page where they have to enter an email address and they get a one time password (in the cloudflare settings you can make restrictions on whi can get a otp - i have it so only these 2 emails and my own will receive a otp)

Once they get past that they get to effectively an app page where they can click on the nextcloud and and it loads my service for them, using a cloudflare tunnel

Just an option for you to too at if you want

If you want me to try* and show you how I got it all working I will give it a go, but I kid you not I was at it for about 2 days, had issues trying ri install it 1st of all, then I had issues getting the office package to work externally (through that cloudflare tunnel) then i basically started feom scratch and faced a hundred new issues lol

You didn’t install nextcloud as an app in truenas? But as a Docker container?
First I want to get nextcloud just running on my internal network, so far that is even a difficult task. After that maybe outside access will become the next challenge…

No, the only app I installed as as app was portainer, and everything else ive installed I’ve installed using a compose file in it

That was a solution I didn’t think off, thanks so far.
This is the next thing I’m going to try, will let you know how it turns out…

Ok, have nextcloud running from portainer.
Now next question/problem…how to mount a SMB share drive for storage…

Edit, got the shared drive in nextcloud. So thanks so far
