I bought a TrueNAS M40 on ebay, the device looks to be activated in the IPMI GUI, but from the reading I have done, looks like I have to have Enterprise installed in order to take advantage of the HA and NVDimm.. since the I would need to reinstall to new boot disks, I dont see a way to download the Enterprise version.. I am assuming I am just SOL stuck unless I pay thousands a year for a license?
Enterprise and CE are ( if i understand it correctly) the same, but you need a licence key to activate the enterprise features. Maybe ask the seller if he still has his licence key…
The screenshot is the only place where the key is active.. is this all I need?
That looks like the IPMI licence, not the truenas licence…
The truenas licence should be added in the truenas gui
(I’m using the CE version, hence the empy lincence field)

You can use it in single controller mode and use the 2nd controller as a cold spare.. for free.
The HA mode and support is done as an Enterprise license… we would have to charge.

If I wanted just the license and not the support, would it be a one time fee for the license only, or is it a subscription that I would have to pay yearly on?
There’s currently no way to only purchase a licence (has been requested by many over the years). That’s why I wrote if you know if the seller still has his licence key.
