TrueNAS Enterprise or Community?

Which version of TrueNAS is recommended for the following hardware?

  1. iXsystems FreeNAS Mini XL+ (purchased November 14, 2019)
  2. iXsystems TrueNAS Mini XL+ (purchased March 1, 2021)
  3. iXsystems TrueNAS Mini E (purchased May 4, 2022)

These machines have been offline since 2023, and I intend to install the current version of TrueNAS and start using them again. Should I install TrueNAS Enterprise or Community? I assume both are options since the hardware is official iXSystems hardware.

Enterprise is unlocked with a licence on iX Hardware . If the support contract with the hardware ran out, your only option should be the community version. There’s no option to just purchase an enterprise license

If you’re a business (“LLC”) with invoices for the material, reach out directly to iXsystems/TrueNAS-the-company and inquire whether you can renew the licences.
