Hi, i was using older version and do clean instal truenas scale 25.10
i dont thing this is performace problem (data transfer over network is 5GB/s and more) stable i copy 500GB of data no problem.
Using total total commader, connecting share as drive, all ok.
BUT if clicking to drive leter againg OR browse to root share folder
wait 10sec clicking to empty space and folders are there, click to drive od browse folder, same thing…..
from windows explorer its fine…
yeah i do, scrub pool, restart server, restart pc, reinstal latest total…. from second pc same thing…
i dont thing hadrware problem, or performace problem. Its easy setup 5 shares no connected users. I have several instalation of old freenas and newer truenas… This is first time this problem hapens… IF i can see smb log is fine
I have the same issue on 25.10. On all my computers (all windows), if I refresh my File Explorer for the share, most of the time it’s there. But about every several refreshes, the directory is empty.
I noticed it using FreeFileSync to backup some files to another drive. The problem is that I’m mirroring the SMB share. So when it see’s an empty folder, it’ll sync the empty folder to my backup, deleting those files on that backup (i have other backups, and during my review I saw that it was going to delete them, so I stopped and started troubleshooting).
In any case, I reverted my boot environment back to 24.10.2 (I haven’t tried 25.04 yet), and I’m here searching for other cases. Since I found this one, I wanted to share that he’s not alone with this bug.
hmm interesting…. i have not time to revert or reinstall, but today/ same computer (not restarted) same server (not restarter) same network (not restarted) and magicaly working… another pc, problem is still there…
yeah mirroring empty drive is not fun…
for me is only “graphical“ glitch, folders are there any working, synology smb backup have all files

i think this is a “permisson” error with the new function introduced it tries that first, fails and reverts to old function or similar and then works, but for each session/refresh it can change thus showing an empty folder or new folders none-existing.
