New to TrueNAS, building a new server. I’ve joined to AD and all that appears to be working well. Next step is to create an SMB share but the service won’t start: smbd.service: Referenced but unset environment variable evaluates to an empty string: SMBDOPTIONS
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hmm… that’s very unusual. What version are you running? Did you follow some online guide or chat bot for joining AD?
25.10.0. I didn’t follow any guide. I just checked and it showed the status as “faulted.” I removed it from AD, re-joined to the domain and now the status is “healthy” and now SMB service started. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of AD.
