My NAS cannot presently contact the update server due to a SSL certificate issue. Are other folk dealing with the same problem? Who do we contact re: such issues at iXsystems? @kris?
No problem with the check on Dragonfish-24.04.2 just now
I also don’t see any problem in Firefox when I go to update.ixsystems.com
It brings up a secure webpage with the downloads
Thank you for that… it’s curious - the pi-holes started blocking http://update.ixsystems.com/ for some reason. Once I white-listed the domain, Iit resolved OK. The certificate error was bizarre.
Same issue here. TrueNAS scale virtualized on Proxmox. Research indicates it may be a time sync error to GMT/UMT, but my Tyan board syncs to time.nist.gov, and all my systems report NTD sync. So that can’t be the issue.
No, that would cause a different error, which would be something about the cert being expired or not yet valid. In your case, like in Constantin’s the error says that you have an invalid cert. The most likely reason is something similar to his: you’re using DNS-based ad blocking and have for whatever reason blocked the iX update servers.
But assuming the error is real (i.e. not pi-hole arbitrarily blocking update.ixsystems.com), who do we contact with the news? Or best to just ignore?
Assuming it’s real–i.e., your NAS resolves update.ixsystems.com
to a remote address, and you’re still seeing this error–I’d probably ping Kris or one of the other iX crew. Not sure if that or putting in a Jira ticket would be the quickest way to get attention to the issue.
That was it. After whitelisting update.ixsystems.com absented that error.
