Hello everyone again, it has been a while!
I recently started having a strange error pop up that only goes away after a hard power cycle. It will go away for a day or so and then locks up my server.
Once reset, it starts fine and doesn’t show any issues.
Normally, if it’s a disk failure, i get alarms for that, this one is strange to me.
I’m only running Plex and using my server as home file storage.
Would you mind helping me with some troubleshooting?
What info is needed to help out?
I’m running TrueNAS 25.04.2.6
SuperMicro X11SSH-F-O motherboard
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1230 v5 @ 3.40GHz
Samsung 2133 MHz - 64g (4pcs of 16g, ECC ram)
6 - 4tb seagate RaidZ2
I’ve had this same setup since i built this server.
What is your boot device? That is mentioning boot-pool issues in the screenshot. It maybe a failing boot device
Is make sure you have a backup of the config file asap. As Barky said this looking like an issue on the boot drive.
Check smart results, consider reseating connections, and depending on outcomes consider having a replacement on hand…
yeah boot-pool I/O that clears after a hard power cycle is usually the boot stick/ssd dying intermittently
System → General → Manage Configuration → Download so u got a config backup first
then:
-zpool status boot-pool
-midclt call boot.get_disks
-smartctl -a /dev/sdX (whatever disk midclt showed)
if SMART is already screaming Current_Pending_Sector / Offline_Uncorrectable, just swap the boot media. reseat the usb/sata cable b4 u buy anything
You guys are great! Thanks so much! I just changed out my Boot Drive SSD. I was getting a lot of bad SMART results after digging into it. It was very old too. Back up and running!
