Server not reachable vie WebUI and monitor

Heyy,

I’m new to TrueNAS, and this is also the first server I’ve ever built. Lately, I’ve been having some issues that I don’t know how to fix.

At random times, the WebUI of my server becomes unreachable. When I connect a monitor via HDMI to check what’s going on, there’s no output at all from the server.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how I can troubleshoot it?

I’m also having a problem with two of my drives (which are not part of the same pool). I keep getting the following message after a while:
“Device: /dev/sda [SAT], 3 Currently unreadable (pending) sectors.”
About 1.5 hours later, I get the exact same message again. This issue has occurred on two different drives at different times. The last time it happened was around 25 days ago. Could these two problems be related?

Additionally, the drive labeled /dev/sda never completes a long SMART test, it always fails. Short SMART tests usually complete, but sometimes they also fail.

System specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon 3000G
Motherboard: Gigabyte A520I
Boot Drive: Crucial P3 500GB M.2 PCIe Gen3
Storage Drives:
2x Seagate 12TB SATA3 IronWolf 7200 RPM (one of these is /dev/sda)
2x Seagate 6TB SATA3 IronWolf
RAM: G.Skill Aegis 2x16GB DDR4 @ 3000MHz
PSU: be quiet! System Power 9 500W

Thanks a lot for your help!

Your Athlon could be affected by the same power saving problems, that first and second gen ryzen have.
If your system is running fine for days at a time (often varying from 3-10) but suddenly you can’t access the webui or mapped shares than try to disable the following bios options:

  • amd cool&quit
  • erp-ready
  • global c-states or c6-options (every motherbord vendor calls this different)

This indicates a failing drive which needs to be replaced. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

Thanks!
I’ll try that. I will see if the issue appears again.

I will do that, I somehow didn’ think it was that bad. But thanks for your expertise!
