I’m considering to upgrade TrueNAS Scale from 24.04 to 24.10. and I am curious what’s your experience. I’m mostly using Nextcloud app (+prometheus and graphana, but these are not important) and running a virtual guest to host my docker containers.
According to documentation the migration is supported and there shouldn’t be problems. Theoretically, I guess.
So shall I hold or go? What’s your take?
I’m looking to consolidate my docker containers from custom virtual guest to native truenas’ docker compose and to expand zfs RAIDZ2 vdev with new and bigger disks.
If you have issues you can always roll back, apps will be preserved. Just remember not to upgrade your pools until you are comfortable everything is working as expected.
I have not had any issues with 24.10 and nextcloud is running fine. I think 24.10.1 comes out tomorrow, so you might want to wait a week or so to see if it is stable, then move to 24.10.1 (I am running 24.10.02.)
Should we expect some conflicts between docker running in a Truenas VM and the 24.10 implementation of docker running Truenas apps? Or is this unexplored territory?
Not something I’ve personally tested, but hopefully someone on the forums may be able to answer, I’d suggest creating a specific thread to ask this question.
