If you look here, there’s an option to send email status updates. But in mine, there’s no such option. I definitely had it set up in the past, as I’ve previously received emails from my TrueNAS when the UPS has gone on battery, gone to low battery, etc. But we just went through a power outage and no emails were sent.
In SCALE it is in System Settings / Alert Settings then select Category=UPS.

For future reference, the documentation is versioned and you linked to docs for CORE 13.0. You can use the dropdown to make sure you’re looking at docs for your installed version.

Okay, somehow my email address had been removed. Got that resolved, had another power outage yesterday. Got an email to say the UPS was on battery power. Never got any further emails after that. I would have expected either a “low battery, shutting down” email or a “power restored” email, but I got neither.
Checking on the TrueNAS, it had shut down. I’m now unsure if it just crashed out without noticing battery was low, or whether it did shut itself down properly but just didn’t alert me.
