TrueNAS scale 24.04.2 and UPS (USB connected) just started shutting down recently, not sure why UPS is powering off if Power Off UPS is not checked in Services/UPS. Saw same issue in old forum that this check box does not seem to do anything and this does not appear to have been corrected still.
NAS-115025 was the post in the old forum Created February 25, 2022 at 11:21 AM with same issue reported.
There HAS to be some warning or log entry.
Perhaps the battery is old?
Specify UPS model, battery age and UPS stats output (upsc ups).
If you don’t connect the USB and it still happens is not related to TrueNAS. That would be good to know for the troubleshooting.
While an interesting idea I would rather the server shutdown if the power is truly out longer than the UPS can handle.
No errors in TrueNAS Audit log. The UPS is fine, Eaton 5S 1500 with 2 year old batteries. The issue has happened twice since upgrading to TrueNAS scale 24.04.2 in late July.
You can unplug the power to the UPS and test that way while either, make all the drives run or add some other load. That way you’ll know if the UPS can really take the load on its own.
Replaced both batteries.
