Why do I keep getting this error?

Here’s the error:

“The following alert has been cleared:

  • Pool JAN2024 state is ONLINE: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected.”

My system is SCALE with RAIDZ with 4x4TB HDDs, a pair of SSD’s for boot and a single NVMe stick for apps. The JAN2024 pool is the one for data.

When I look at the disks and VDEVs I see no errors, but this error has been sent via email 4 times over the last 5 days.

sudo zpool status -v in code tags please

Also whats the hardware - please list it all. Also specifically how are the disks attached to the motherboard

Hi, and thanks. I added the system config to my profile a while ago, thinking that it would be available. My bad. Here it is:

MSI PRO B550M-VC wifi mobo

Ryzen 5500GT.
Teamgroup T-Force XTREEM ARGB 3600MHz CL18 16GB (2x8GB) PC4-28800 Dual Channel DDR4 DRAM TF13D416G3600HC18JDC01

2 x Samsung SSD for boot

Samsung 870 NVe 512Mb for apps

4 x WD40EFRX data drives RAIDZ2, directly connected to mobo via SATA

Powerspec PS650BF PSU

Thanks again.

Well according to zpool status there is no error anymore - although the scrub on 14/12 found an error and corrected it

That’s how I interpreted it, too. I looked a little deeper at the error emails I received and it looks like they all concern the same event. On Dec 14 I got the error and on Dec 19 the message tells me it has cleared.

Obviously concerned that there is a problem that may get worse, but I guess not.

Many thanks for you help!

@Randal_Tart please use a more descriptive title next time. It will entice certain people more.

Glad the problem was corrected.

Anything abnormal in smart tests for any of the drives?

Nope. Scrutiny returns no errors on any drives.

Looks like it might have been a one-time thing, but I’ll keep monitoring.

Thanks!
