Cannot get Plex to "see" my media directory TrueNAS Scale

Here goes. As the title states, I simply cannot get Plex to “see” my media folder. The structure is /Pool/Dataset/Movies but when I go to edit library in Plex and try to add those folders, they’re not in the list. Movies is in the list and seems to be in the /data directory, but it’s empty.

I don’t know if this is a permissions issue, or a Plex issue, but I remember reading another thread here where the OP stated he restarted his server 4 or 5 times and suddenly Plex started working. So, aside from that, there may not be a solution to this, but I’m really hoping somebody knows of one.

I doubt hardware matters, but my system is:

  • Intel i5 6600K
  • MSI Z170 Krait Gaming motherboard
  • 16GB Crucial DDR4
  • 256GB M.2 NVME as boot drive
  • 4x 2TB Seagate Barracuda for storage pool
I set it to ZF1 so that half my drives mirror the other half
I’ve checked the ACL on the datasets and changed the user and group to my name, rather than root

And now, most recently, anytime I try to change the directories in Plex>Manage Libraries it just says unable to save changes.

I’m not sure what kind of information or screenshots you may need from scale dashboard (which is updated) but I’ll help out as best I can.

TIA

Under “Application Metadata” on the right hand side of the applications section, it will tell you what user plex is running as. You need to give that user access to the dataset if you haven’t already.

Ok so I checked that. Plex is running under user “apps”. So I changed ownership in the dataset to “apps”. But I don’t know if this is making a difference because Plex won’t let me change folders in the library. It just says “Could not make changes” everytime I try to change the path, and if I try to delete the library and make a new one, it says there was a problem deleting the library.
