Cannot Install Apps TrueNAS-13.0-U6.3 Core

Hi,
I have just installed TrueNAS-13.0-U6.3 Core and it is really good.
However when I try and install an App such as JellyFin it asks me to choose a Release. 13.3 or 13.4 neither of which refer to my version. Therefore halfway through an App installation I get a dialog box saying it cannot find the release.

Additionally pkg also seems to be broken.

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Thanks and kind regards,

I’m partially sighted.

For use jails you should move to 13.3 branch of Core, 13.0 can’t due to his freebsd version.
IMHO, consider to sidegrade on Scale, Core will only receive security fix, bug’s that are not critical will not been fixed

Hi,
Thank you for the rapid reply and advice.
Now comes the fearful bit.
How to go about upgrading, getting the upgrade and not loosing data .

Kind regards,

Hi,
Thank you very much for the direction,
I have now migrated up to 24.10 and it is remarkable fast.

I have the inherited the following layout:
/mnt/Data/
/mnt/Backup/ (manual rysync using cron @daily)

I would now like to install JellyFin so that I can access the videos stored in
/mnt/Data/videos/

When I try, it requires me to setup a pool and a dataset. I am not sure how to proceed as I do not want to loose the content of /mnt/Data/ especially videos.

If you have the time could you please point me in the right direction again.
After that, I think I will have achieved what I wanted to do,

I appreciate your guidance and support, especially as I am partially sighted and ploughing through lengthy documents takes many days.

Many thanks and kind regards,

For an app pool, i suggest to use a NVME or an SSD, with a dedicated pool. They don’t need to be very large… Just the minimum for app data/metadata/db, so in most case 120-256gb are more than enough.
This prevent your rust disk to work a lot (less Power, less noise, less heat).
Mirroring Is always adviced, but with a replication task on the other pool you should be fine anyway

I agree, though I’d probably go a bit bigger on that pool.

And, of course, app performance will be considerably better.
