Getting Plex to run in TrueNAS Scale

Don’t ask me why, but I migrated from TrueNAS Core 13.0.2 to TrueNAS Scale 24.04.2.
Anyway, now I want the Plex server Plugin to show in… ‘Apps’ is it now. It was showing and working in TrueNAS Core

How do I get Plex , as I have searched for it but it doesn’t show up.
Is there another way of seeing what plugins are available for Scale, if there are any.

thanks

Go to Apps in the GUI, choose a pool for them to live on, then “discover apps”. You’ll be able to find Plex (and everything else) there.

SCALE won’t pick up any plugins you were using in CORE; you’ll need to install anything you want again.

Ok, I went to Apps, then choosed a pool for the apps, but after a few minutes of ‘installing apps service’ it then produced an error : Error In Apps Service.
This is what it said in Alerts:

Critical

Failed to start kubernetes cluster for Applications: [EFAULT] Kube-router routes not applied as timed out waiting for pods to execute

2024-08-29 18:49:00 (Europe/London)

What now.

Well, you could ask iX why their apps system is broken, but since they’ve already discarded that system, they’d probably ignore the question. You could try rebooting, and see if the apps service comes up then.

I rebooted my NAS but it didn’t make any difference, still the same error.

Oh well, I guess it’s not going to happen.
Thanks anyway.

For most people apps work so this is a matter if figuring out what is off in your install.

Do you mind posting a screenshot of your Network page, as well as AppsSettingsAdvanced Settings?

I realised I hadn’t changed the DNS nameservers IP addresses when I changed my isp, but that didn’t make any diffeence as i am still getting the same error message.

And this still happens if you unset and reset the pool after fixing your DNS?

Btw, why hardcode your DNS to your ISP in TrueNAS?
Just curious, most home users have a router that can relay DNS requests for them, so setting the DNS to the router IP on the clients and your router to whatever DNS you want to use means less to do when you want to change it.

Sorry, what pool do you mean, and how do I unset it

AppsSettingsUnset Pool and then set it again.

I removed my isp nameserver ip addreses from the network setting in TrueNAS, unset the pool and then reset it, but still no joy.

Anything else i can do?

Give a picture of your network settings. Give a picture of your app settings.

For your DNS, set it to your gateway/router IP (probably 192.168.1.1).

For the Apps settings, you really don’t need to change anything from the default unless you have a reason. It works properly with defaults.

As requested:

First thing i’ve noticed is that you didn’t set any nameservers. without nameservers, there’s no dns resolution and your nas has no internet access.
You can use something like cloudflares 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 as first and second dns server or googles 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

After using googles nameserver ip addresses, the apps service is now running! I would never have known that if you hadn’t said it, thanks.

Silly question now, how do I save / update the storage setting. I have selected this as the Type: Host Path (Path that already exists on the system)
Do I have to do anything else or select an ACL etc
