LAG working with DHCP not with Static IP

Hi I have installed TrueNas Scale on my HP Microserver Gen8. I have managed to get LAG working with DHCP (used named bond1). Cant get the the LAG to work with a static ip.

Any ideas and suggestions for a newbie would be helpful and appreciated

Mine is set to static. In the bond1 you need to select the interfaces to use from the dropdown of available interfaces, along with the other lag options and you need to add a static ip address which is called alias for the bond1 interface. You also need to setup the switch to lag the two ports of you have not already done so.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have aggregated the links on the omada switch and bond1 is working with DHCP. I can see the chart in the dashboard.

When I go to add a static IP, I click test changes and truenas has not updated to the static ip

I believe your issue is you can’t have Multiple interfaces on the same IP subnet and that is what you appear to have. TrueNAS is confused about which ip to use for the bond1 interface. Pick a free ip address on the network to use. A LAG basically combines multiple interfaces (network cards) into one network interface giving one ip target to the server.

Thanks. I will park the static ip for a while. Spent too much time tinkering with it. It is working with DHCP. Will revisit it when I need to be challenged by IT again :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi I have solved the issue. Applying a static ip to a bond in the user interface does not work. I literally spent two days without success. Found this really good video on Youtube. It says Core but advice worked on Scale

Changed to static ip on the server without using User Interface and it works :grinning:

I also changed the IP without issues.
