Mini-R system, Plex, transcoding video card suggestion?

Update just to finalize this topic. ASRock A310 went in with no issue whatsoever.

PRO:
Plex sees it, uses it and now it’s better than Jellyfin as any movie which wouldn’t play with CPU now plays just fine. Very good experience.

CON:

  1. Jellyfin seem to not support it? A310 not in dropdown of choices on Jellyfin. Seems like Plex for the win right now…
  2. IPMI does not have display anymore. Is it because of external card? Is there any way to fix?

Check BIOS settings for display.

Yesterday I bought online an Asrock A310 for my Jellyfin server…

It will arrive Monday I guess. I’ll post the result of my test with the card.

I really don’t want to use Plex.

Maybe I am wrong… But it definitely not Plug and Play as in Plex.
I “assume” correct selection is “Intel…” but then you need to select something else

Honestly, I started with intention to use Jellyfin, but tried Plex and it much more polished. I jumped wagon 2 weeks ago before they raised prices and got lifetime license with them…

I assume at this point to get to BIOS I need to connect physical monitor? Because even at boot stage IPMI screen is blank

My Arc A310 card arrived today and I have tested.

I’m pretty sure it’s working with Jellyfin.

At first I didn’t think it was. When I installed the Jellyfin App, there was no GPU resource / selection. But I think they changed that.

When I list the /dev/dri now “render129” shows up in the folder:

In jellyfin configuration, I used Intel QuickSync, and in the field QSV Device I used “/dev/dri/renderD129”.

At first, I was not sure it was working because the CPU was hitting 13% when transcoding (I have setted 2 cores for jellyfin), but I’ve found out it’s probably because of audio transcoding and subtitles rendering, which uses CPU for this.

Now if I change the bitrate of the movie to a low value, in a few seconds the movies starts playing. I’ve tested with a 4K HDR movie. With HW transcode off, the movie takes too long to start, keeps loading all the time.
