Moving to TrueNAS SCALE from CORE with a new install without losing data: help with plan

Hi,
I have a TrueNAS CORE and I’d like to move to SCALE. I would like to perform a brand new install (I’m ok reconfiguring everything), but obviously I don’t want to lose any data on my pools.

If possible, I’d like to first install TrueNAS SCALE on an SSD and decide if everything is fine. If it is, I will import the pools.

Will this approach preserve my ability to revert to TrueNAS CORE, if necessary, assuming I have a separate SSD for the SCALE installation from the CORE installation?

I essentially want to verify that SCALE does work, then import the pools. All my jails need to be recreated anyway.

Once I import a pool in SCALE, is it impossible to import it back in CORE?

Save your configuration file, install SCALE on a different device and load your configuration. Do not upgrade pool features.
This should be reversible.

OK, thank you, this is what I was actually expecting!

I should have probably clarified that importing it back is not my plan, it’s just if things go wrong.
