Ive installed the plex app about 3 times and still get the same outcome. When i go into the webportal and sign in, the app is recognized as a player only and does not have server functionality. Ive used plex for over five years so not sure what it going on. Im new to TruNAS so im sure its a newbie issue but searches are coming up empty for me. Any help is appreciated.
Bumping this thread because I’m having the same issue. There is no server functionality when I go to the web portal and sign in to my plex account. There is no place to add libraries or anything like that. Did I install it wrong? I don’t know, because there’s nothing current online to walk me through it. All the YouTube videos and even threads on here are old. They don’t show the same setup screen that I get when I try to install plex in the TrueNAS UI.
After you installed did you go to:
http://<PLEX_IP_ADDRESS>:32400/web
Yes I did but the web page that comes up is the standard Plex client, not the Plex server page. As I stated, there was no option to add libraries or anything like that.
Ok. I don’t remember having to do this when I first set up Core a few months ago, but what I had to do is go to plexdottvslashclaim and claim the code and paste that into the plex setup. Now I have Plex server functionality. Now if I can only figure out which folder my library is in.
Glad you got that part figured out. Sorry about the media location(s). And sorry, I cannot be more of a help though; I run plex on FreeBSD so I mount my directories to a location of my choosing (my plex jail setup is almost fully automated so to be fair, I’d have to check my locations too :] ). Isn’t there a config file you can check (there must have been some config file you were supposed to fill out with your mount points, right)?
