Plex Community Train?

Im running Truenas Scale 24.04.02 and have Plex 1.40.4.8679 from a Truecharts repo.

I Understand now that Truecharts has pulled out of Truenas i need to look for a community version of this app.

Ive looked in “discover apps” on my Truenas but cant find it. My questions are.
How long can i run the charts version before it wont run.
Are there any other Repo’s i can add to keep Plex installed.

It shows its running in a docker container.(docker.io/plexinc/pms-docker:1.40.4.8679-424562606)

Thanks

Indefinitely, I’d expect. Of course, it won’t get any updates, but there’s no baked-in limit on how long it will run.

  1. Why do you feel that you need to do anything at this point? As noted above, the TrueCharts apps will continue to run indefinitely. There’s no reason to make sudden or unplanned changes to your system.
  2. Why do you think it needs to be a “community version”?

iX themselves provide a Plex app:

I can’t vouch for it myself–I’m still using the TrueCharts version–but I expect it would work fine.

I switched from the TC version to the iX version which works fine (remember to tick the Host Networking option if you need remote availability).
I didn’t bother transferring the Plex data files, I just set it up again and let it scan by libraries.

I must be blind as i cant see the iX version in my app list. It only shows the TrueCharts version currently installed and the option to install another instance. Im not a huge fan of running on outdated or unsupported versions, hence why i want to change the train to iX.

Guess ill just have to wait and see what happens.

Cheers Everyone

Do you have the community train configured, and have you refreshed?

Plex is in the charts train, not the community train.

Ah yes, so it is. Anyway, definitely worth a refresh, otherwise I can’t see why the OP wouldn’t be able to install from there.

Did so too, except if you have a large collection (especially music), it might be handy to migrate the plex config.
I did so with this guide, using heavyscript to mount the old plex config, copied everything to my pool, spun up the iX Plex app, stopped it, copied it to the iX volume (basically vice-versa like in the guide)
Easier way is probably to just copy the config files from the truecharts app and let it reside on host path, but I wanted everything in volumes again.

Belperite.

Yep. Refreshed and have Charts, Community and even Enterprsise selected.

How many apps are available if you go to Apps → Discover?

Dan.
109 available apps. 2 currently installed (Plex & Tailscale). 1 installed catalogue which is Truenas apps catalogue.

Whats confusing me is that the Plex app is in the TrueNAS catalogue but in the charts Train in application info. Is the Charts Train and Truecharts trains separate beasts…Am i looking at this wrong.

Thanks

Yes, they are. Charts is a train in the TrueNAS catalog; TrueCharts is a different catalog (that’s now gone away).

It doesn’t work.

Well, when you can explain exactly what’s going on, maybe you’ll get some help. “It doesn’t work” tells us absolutely nothing about what’s going on.

For anybody upgrading to Dragon fish, keep your apps and don’t try to reinstall them.
New installation of plex server just doesn’t work.
Ive tried official image which starts the service but only in client mode, so you can’t setup your server.
Ive tried pass image and app just get stuck in deploying mode with no access to web portal.
Both images tried with diffrent settings and no luck.
Im not really happy about it, hearing my kids every day asking: where is Plex dad?
