Root user vs admin user in scale

With a lot of help from winnielinnie, I was able to get moved over from CORE to SCALE, but now I have another question. With the migration, it continue with a “root” login. I only had a single boot drive, and wanted to add a mirror, since I couldn’t figure it out, I did a fresh install of SCALE. I noticed in the setup the “admin” was preferred, and not “root”, so I selected “admin”. When I restored the configuration file it reverted to “root”.

So the question is should I created a new “admin” user, and what is the simplest way to do it, since I read the docs and in that process you disable the “root” password. I want to be sure I don’t lock myself out of the system?

Again KUDO’s to winnielinnie for all the help and assistance.

This is the recommended route that we document, yes. To make sure you don’t lock yourself out of the system, just create the admin user, log out from your root session and log back in with the new admin account to confirm it works, then disable the root pw.
