Rsync auxiliary parameters config stopped working after 25.10.7

Hi all,

I had the following auxiliary parameters in a rsync job that created a versioning directory structure in the target server:

--backup
--exclude="/_versions"
--exclude=".DS_Store"
--backup-dir=_versions/`date +%Y`/`date +%m`/`date +%Y-%m-%d-%H-%M`
_versions
  |_ YYYYY
     |_ MM
        |_ YYYY-MM-DD-HH-MM

I noticed that it stopped working and the rsync tasks are failing since I updated to 25.10.7 from 25.10.6.

I couldn’t find anything in the changelog related to rsync. Has anything changed in 25.10.7 that would impact auxiliary parameters?

Log Excerpt:

rsync: [sender] change_dir "/+%Y`" failed: No such file or directory (2)
rsync: [sender] change_dir "/+%m`" failed: No such file or directory (2)
rsync: [sender] link_stat "/+%Y-%m-%d-%H-%M`" failed: No such file or directory (2)
IO error encountered -- skipping file deletion
rsync error: some files/attrs were not transferred (see previous errors) (code 23) at main.c(1338) [sender=3.2.7]

Thanks

There is an Rsync config bug (144174) reported on 25.10.7: Jira

Its fixed in TN 27.0 … have you tested with 25.10.6?

Rsync Task Additional Parameters are split when reopening the edit screen in TrueNAS 25.10.7

Problem/Justification

I found a reproducible issue with Rsync Tasks → Additional Parameters on TrueNAS 25.10.7.
I am using an Rsync Task in PULL mode over SSH.
The remote SSH user is truenas, and rsync needs to be executed through sudo on the remote Rocky Linux server in order to read all files under /home.
Therefore, I add the following parameter:
–rsync-path=sudo\ /usr/bin/rsync
When I enter this parameter and save the Rsync Task, it is stored as a single Additional Parameter and works correctly.
I confirmed that the scheduled Rsync Task completes successfully in this state.
However, if I reopen the Rsync Task edit screen, the Web UI automatically splits the parameter into two separate entries:
–rsync-path=sudo
/usr/bin/rsync
If I save the task in this state, the task subsequently fails with:
rsync command returned 1 - SYNTAX

Because the target system uses dates in the folder structure for versioning, I can see that it stopped working when I updated from 25.10.6 to 25.10.7.

So it seems to be working on 25.10.6 and stopped working on 25.10.7.
