Trouble booting TrueNAS on Ugreen DXP2800 — Stuck on BIOS

Hi everyone,

We’re new to the NAS world and recently purchased a Ugreen NASync DXP2800. Our goal is to use the device as a cloud storage solution and to host a small website. We’ve been trying to install TrueNAS but we’re stuck at the boot stage and really need some guidance.

What we have tried

  • Installed TrueNAS multiple times on:

    • The original internal SSD that comes in the device

    • Both inserted HDDs (one at a time and also with multiple drives)

  • Installation seems to complete successfully — the drives appear as “boot pool”

  • Upon reboot, the system does not boot TrueNAS, it only loads into the BIOS

  • One recurring error we see is:

Failed to find partition number 2 on mmcblk0
    (looks related to the eMMC)

Troubleshooting already attempted

  • We searched online for solutions and followed multiple suggestions, but no progress so far

  • We could not find the CSM option in the BIOS, which many posts mention modifying

  • Secure Boot is already disabled

  • We have tried different ISO versions, and reinstalling the same ISO multiple times

Current situation

  • We are unsure whether the installation is actually completing correctly

  • The system never boots the OS, only returns to BIOS after installation

  • We’re not experienced with servers or NAS devices, so we are not confident what the next step should be.

Any help, guidance, or confirmation that this device is (or isn’t) suitable for TrueNAS would be hugely appreciated.
We may be missing something basic, so please explain things simply — we are total beginners here.

Thanks a lot in advance! :folded_hands:

Hey, I’m assuming that you have truenas on another drive that isn’t the ugreen os one. When you go into bios, go to the boot screen and enable both m2-keym1 and m2-keym2. Save and restart and you should be at the truenas scale setup.

I had to go through the same thing and got it to work doing that.

you may want to uninstall truenas os from the other drives btw.
