TrueNAS Mini X+ HDD Drive Support (Seagate IronWolf Pro 22TB)

Hi there,
I asked I asked iXsystem’s Tech support if they thought that the Seagate IronWolf Pro 22TB Would be supported in my system and they said that they didn’t have software support and told me to come here.

I did a quick search and I don’t know, I wasn’t able to find my answer.

I would like to put in five:
Seagate IronWolf Pro 22TB Enterprise NAS Internal HDD – CMR 3.5in SATA 6Gb/s 7200 RPM (ST22000NT001)

It already has two 500 GB SSD’s and whatever M.2 comes on the motherboard.

So I worry about HDD Support, but I also worry about drawing too much power from whatever power supply they sell the unit with.

It’s a shame that the company didn’t offer this kind of transparency.

My invoice says that the model is “MN-MINIX-DL-11028” I don’t know if that means anything to anybody outside of that company.

Any advice or direction on where I could look for an answer would be great and thank you very much for listening

Hi and welcome to the forums.

This sounds like it’s going to be a neat setup (I’m jealous).

I can’t see anything inherently wrong with your suggestion. They are branded by Seagate as NAS drives and they are CMR not SMR which is a good thing.

The only concern I would have would be cooling but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be an issue.

FWIW, I have 6 of these drives in my Node 304 system.

They’re helium drives, so run relatively cool.

I have one of these drives for my removable backup, and it didn’t get any hotter than regular 8TB WD Red drive running a solid 2 weeks on BADBLOCKS/SMARTCTL Surface Test, so if the enclosure is good for hard drives, you should be good to go. Good Luck
