Hello,
I’m running Truenas scale with no problem since months and today I upgraded to 24.10.2.1.
After the restart, I no longer have access to the web UI.
I’ve access to the console but I’ve no idea about what is going wrong and how to solve it.
Can someone help to identify the issue and solve it ?
Thanks a lot
Hello.
I think I need to give more details.
Here is my configuration :
MB supermicro x11ssl-f
Intel Xeon E3 1245 v5
RAM 64GB ECC
Boot : 2x128GB SSD miroring
2x600GB SSD miroring dedicated to my VM and Apps
4x2TB disks for my data
I started some years ago with Truenas Core and recently upgraded to Truenas Scale without any problem. I was running Electric Eel (24.10.2) until yesterday when the system warned me about a new version available. I still have access to my server via IPMI console, but no access to the Web interface of Truenas.
I can follow the boot process and I cannot see any error.
It seems to be a network issue, but I don’t understand why it was working like a charm before the upgrade.
Thanks a lot for your help
Just had the same exact thing happen. Upgraded and lost access** to the UI in 24.10.2.1
My issue was the SSL certificate. I had generated a new certificate and manually installed it for TrueNAS previously. After the update, TrueNAS removed my certificate and generated a new one which seemed to cause nginx to break.
** It wasn’t until i went delving through the server logs that i saw the issue was specifically failing when trying to load up the newly generated SSL certificate for the server. Initially i wasn’t able to access the UI from HTTP or HTTPS. As it turns out, HTTP actually WAS working, but my browser was attempting to automatically redirect me back to HTTPS because that’s what i had been using in the past. Even specifying http // server : 80
still wasn’t enough. BUT launching private mode (or i suspect another browser would work too) worked perfect for accessing the HTTP version of the UI, which was then enough for me to login and install the new HTTPS certificate again. Once that was done, everything was all good once more.
Thanks a lot for the time you spent to answer me.
I’ve tried your solution, sadly without success.
I’ve been able to boot on an older version (24.10.1) so my NAS is now fully operational again, but not with the latest version of Truenas.
I’ve dug into the certificate parameters and I’ve found that I’ve enabled the option “Web Interface HTTP → HTTPS Redirect”. I think this is why even if I try to connect to the UI via HTTP, it always tries with HTTPS, blocking the access due to missing certificate.
Now the question is : What will happen if I disable this option and I upgrade to the last version ? Will I be able to access to the UI via HTTP ?
Thanks
Hello again
I’ve disabled the HTTP → HTTPS option and upgraded Truenas to 24.10.2.1.
I’m now able to connect to the UI in HTTPS but with a warning from my browser.
I’ll manage this certificate issue later.
Thanks a lot for your help because I wouldn’t have tried this without your help
