Truenas Scale doesn't stay logged in using Firefox

Hi, I have a strange problem.

When I log in into Truenas Scale, I can do whatever I want, move to different pages etc, no issue at all. But as soon as I hit refresh, I’m thrown back to the login page and need to login again.

I have session timeout set to 1 day and have 2FA enabled.

This happens only in Firefox, not in Chrome.
I have uBlock origin enabled, but it’s blocking nothing from Truenas.
Disabling it didn’t change anything.
I have tried removing cookies and cache, to no avail.

I’m on 25.10.0 - Goldeye.
Firefox version 144.0.2.

Happens to me as well (from time to time) with safari. I’m on 25.04.2.5, but IIRC it was also the case in 24.

+1

I just tested this, no issue on Firefox 145.0; I also tested with uBlock Origin on/off, tested with HTTP and HTTPS connections.

Truenas is on 25.04.2.6…. however when I update to 25.10.0… I can replicate your issue with Firefox but not on Chrome.

Probably something that needs jira ticket with them to look at further.

Yea, it always does the log out/log in on a refresh in Firefox but you shouldn’t need to actually log in again unless your session actually timed out. Current FF version I’m using is 144.0.2 (64-bit) but also has done it on earlier versions in the last year or more. Also does it on Edge (Version 142.0.3595.65 (Official build) (64-bit)) if you refresh the page.

The default admin and user session period is only something like 5 minutes in Truenas. I like to change the session time to a longer period so the session won’t actually expire unreasonably soon. So maybe check that.

I’m also experiencing this on 25.10.0.1 with Firefox 145.0.1 in normal and private windows without adblocker extensions running and Firefox privacy mode set to Standard. I have also tried increasing the session idle timeout in TrueNAS which makes no difference as expected.

Thanks for confirming.

I have opened a Jira ticket here: Jira

I’m also experiencing same issue with TrueNAS 25.10.0 and Firefox 146.0

Ok, I just found out a fix for this. Go to Firefox setting → Privacy & Security → Pop-up and 3rd Part Redirect. Type in your truenas server URL. Refresh page and done.

I tried this, but doesn’t work for me unfortunately. I even restarted Firefox instead of just refreshing.

Hi there, same problem here!

TrueNas Version: 25.10.1
Firefox Version: 146.0.1 (64-bit)

Repriduce:
Refresh TrueNAS WebUI (F5) and you will not get logged in again.

Duplicate an “active session” Tab and you will get logged in.

Tested on Firefox Windows (with extensions)
Linux CachyOS Firefox (complete clean install, not even 1 extension)
Both have the same Problem!

Tested with Edge and it works as it should.
So the Bug is just on Firefox.

Looks like the Jira ticket was automatically closed - seems the Jira bot needs a debug file to keep it open. Any chance you’d be able to update/reopen the ticket? :folded_hands:

I was abroad at the time, and missed the (very short) deadline to provide the logs.

I don’t have permission to reopen the bug.

I have the same problem in Firefox.
This seems like a Firefox issue because it works fine in Chrome.

Does it let you open a new bug with the same description?

I have the same problem as well.

Truenas Scale Version: 25.10.1
Firefox Version: 147.0.2 (64-bit)
