Truenas Scale doesn't stay logged in using Firefox

Hi, I have a strange problem.

When I log in into Truenas Scale, I can do whatever I want, move to different pages etc, no issue at all. But as soon as I hit refresh, I’m thrown back to the login page and need to login again.

I have session timeout set to 1 day and have 2FA enabled.

This happens only in Firefox, not in Chrome.
I have uBlock origin enabled, but it’s blocking nothing from Truenas.
Disabling it didn’t change anything.
I have tried removing cookies and cache, to no avail.

I’m on 25.10.0 - Goldeye.
Firefox version 144.0.2.

Happens to me as well (from time to time) with safari. I’m on 25.04.2.5, but IIRC it was also the case in 24.

+1

I just tested this, no issue on Firefox 145.0; I also tested with uBlock Origin on/off, tested with HTTP and HTTPS connections.

Truenas is on 25.04.2.6…. however when I update to 25.10.0… I can replicate your issue with Firefox but not on Chrome.

Probably something that needs jira ticket with them to look at further.

Yea, it always does the log out/log in on a refresh in Firefox but you shouldn’t need to actually log in again unless your session actually timed out. Current FF version I’m using is 144.0.2 (64-bit) but also has done it on earlier versions in the last year or more. Also does it on Edge (Version 142.0.3595.65 (Official build) (64-bit)) if you refresh the page.

The default admin and user session period is only something like 5 minutes in Truenas. I like to change the session time to a longer period so the session won’t actually expire unreasonably soon. So maybe check that.

I’m also experiencing this on 25.10.0.1 with Firefox 145.0.1 in normal and private windows without adblocker extensions running and Firefox privacy mode set to Standard. I have also tried increasing the session idle timeout in TrueNAS which makes no difference as expected.

Thanks for confirming.

I have opened a Jira ticket here: Jira
