We are trying to install TrueNAS SCALE (latest version) on an HP Z4 G4 workstation (Xeon, 128 GB RAM, 2 x 8 TB IronWolf drives).
No matter what we try, we cannot boot from the USB installer.
What we did
• Downloaded the latest TrueNAS SCALE ISO (tried twice).
• Verified the SHA256 checksum (matches).
• Used Rufus and BalenaEtcher to create a bootable USB (Lexar 32 GB).
• Tried different USB ports (front/back, USB 2.0 / 3.0).
• BIOS is configured to boot on USB (tried UEFI and Legacy).
The problem
When we boot from the USB, the HP Z4 either:
• Shows a black screen and freezes
OR
• Briefly flashes “booting” and returns to the BIOS menu.
No installation menu ever appears.
Questions
• Is there a known issue with TrueNAS SCALE latest version and HP Z4 G4 workstations?
• Should we try an older version (23.10.2) instead of the latest one?
• Are there specific BIOS settings (UEFI vs Legacy, Secure Boot, etc.) recommended for Z4 machines?

Nous essayons d’installer TrueNAS SCALE (dernière version) sur une station HP Z4 G4 (Xeon, 128 Go RAM, 2 disques IronWolf de 8 To). Impossible de démarrer depuis la clé USB d’installation.
Étapes déjà tentées
• Téléchargé deux fois l’ISO la plus récente et vérifié le SHA256.
• Créé la clé bootable avec Rufus et BalenaEtcher.
• Changé de clé USB, de port, et testé USB 2.0 et 3.0.
• Configuré le BIOS pour booter sur USB (UEFI et Legacy).
Problème
Quand on boote sur la clé, la Z4 :
• Affiche un écran noir figé
OU
• Affiche rapidement “booting” puis revient au BIOS.
Aucun menu d’installation ne s’affiche.
Questions
• Existe-t-il un problème connu entre la dernière version de TrueNAS SCALE et les stations HP Z4 G4 ?
• Faut-il plutôt utiliser une version précédente (23.10.2) ?
• Y a-t-il des réglages précis du BIOS recommandés pour ce modèle ?
