USB-C 3.2 to 10GbE adapters

Hello!

I was wondering if TN (25.10.1) has support for any USB-C 3.2 to 10GbE adapters?

I am currently using an IO Crest USB 4.0 Type C 10G Ethernet Adapter (AQC113 chipset) on my Bee-link GTR7 Pro via a USB 4 port which works perfectly. I would like to install something similar on my Bee-link ME Mini (running TrueNAS) to gain a 10GbE interface. I believe USB 4 is backwards compatible with 3.2 but please correct me if I am wrong.

Is this possible/supported and, if so, what brand of 10GbE USB adapters work?

Many thanks for any insight.

Do you have other systems to test it with? You could try the adapter from the GTR7 on the ME Mini and see if TrueNAS can use it. Most of the advice here is going to be for real server NICs. Mellanox, Chelsio and Intel are the three major ones.

Thanks for the reply.

I did try the IO Crest adapter on the ME Mini when I originally got it but it was on an older build of TN - I forget which one. I’ll give it a try later today. I recall the adapter working on the Mini when running Win11 Pro and I think it also worked with Unraid if memory serves.

Cheers!

Back again!

It would appear that the IO Crest (AQC113) is not supported as TrueNAS does not detect the device in system>network. The ME Mini itself does detect it but according to the LEDs it defaults to 1GbE rather than 10GbE so that’s a no go as it’s probably a port limitation on the Mini despite being “capable” of 10Gbps according to spec and confirmed by Bee-link support.

I’ll just continue with link aggregation on the two 2.5GbE ports.
