Hello!
This is my first post, but I’ve read plenty of articles. For this particular issue, I haven’t been able to find a solution or information on it:
I have a dedicated graphics card (NVIDIA T1000 8GB) in my HP Z230, the base for my server, and after the initial boot, I’m unable to retrieve the video signal, when for example, I switch off my monitor or switch inputs, leave it for a bit, and then come back and want to access it. It’s completely visible during boot all the way up to the 10 options screen and continues to function for I don’t really know how long, but as long as I’ve been on the input. I’m unsure if this is something to do with my BIOS, TrueNAS (had this issue on 25.10 and still on 27.0.0-RC.1, or potentially NVIDIA drivers. Any help is appreciated, and if the answer is found I can update the post with the solution at the top.
I get this too on the most recent stable build (which I think is .7). I only need it when I’m breaking things, so would be rebooting anyway, so there’s no real user story from me to justify a fix. But I do get this. On a rtx3060.
Loss of connection to the monitor seems to trigger this, if I understand OP. Have you considered switching ports after turning your monitor back on? You could also try a DisplayPort dummy plug, so the GPU thinks it always has a monitor connection active.
That’s an astute observation. I’ve tried many times to switch inputs after the fact, but nothing ‘wakes it up.’ The Mini-Display-Port-to-Display-Port cord never actually gets disconnected. I just switch inputs on the monitor itself.
This is a common issue KVM makers deal with all the time. Their display dongles always spoof an active monitor, even when the actual monitor is switched to another system. A dummy plug serves the same purpose in your case, but inserting a KVM may be your ultimate solution.
