VM remote control VNC keyboard layout

I’ve migrated two Linux VM from ESXi to Truenas Scale 25.10.0. They are working so far.

The remote control with VNC is also working, but the keyboard layout is wrong.
How do I configure the VNC configurations to german keyboard layout?

If your system is configured for the German language/local, TN should honor that an do it automatically (else offer the option).

Guessing it is a bug. Pls report it.

okay, will try to figure out the Jira stuff and report it. Having a option field in the VNC config would be great.

Same problem here. Tried the following to no avail:

  • Changed Localization Settings to German (de)
  • Used different clients on different OSes
  • Set locale of connection in RealVNC to de_DE
  • No difference between VNC and SPICE

Even more puzzling: doesn’t even seem to be en_xx keymap.

Seems to be a bug.
